Over the last two decades our knowledge of and capacity for supporting young people with personality difficulties have grown exponentially. In parallel, radical change in our understanding of how best to conceptualize personality disorder has evolved. This talk will examine these two developments in tandem, showing how each can be understood in the context of the other; and how both these developments advance the field, allowing destigmatization of personality difficulties, prevention and early intervention.
