In this workshop participants are oriented to methodological approaches that allow a different perspective on answering research questions. Specifically, this workshop will introduce the use of multi-level analyses and the use of qualitative methods. In the first part, the use of multi-level (or mixed model) analyses will be explained using example applications shown to data with multiple time points and to hierarchical data. Conditions of using this kind of analysis are discussed including ways of exploring and visualising the data.
In the second part of the workshop, the use of qualitative data analysis is discussed. There is value in asking people directly about their experiences. However, it may be challenging to ensure a methodologically sound study. Here, we will explore the use of reflexive thematic analysis.
This workshop is aimed at PhD students who are interested in using different approaches to data analyses that may use the data more fully.
