Birgit Pfitzer
Dr Birgit Pfitzer is a Principal Clinical Psychologist in the Alfred Mental and Addiction Health Service at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. She has a strong interest in the treatment of personality difficulty and trauma and has been working with various populations of trauma survivors including experiences of early life trauma, disasters, and refugee trauma. Over the past 15 years, Birgit has been employed in various treatment teams across the private and public sector. Besides clinical work, Birgit has been actively engaged in trauma related research; her PhD focused on the development of a treatment program for victims of crime, she has frequently presented psychosocial perspectives at conferences and been involved in several publications in peer-reviewed journals. Birgit is currently the clinical lead in a state-funded personality disorder initiative with a purpose of improving treatment for individuals with early developmental trauma and personality disorders.
