Karen E Bailey
Karen has been in a caring role for around 20 years for 3 family members who experience the symptoms of borderline personality disorder and complex PTSD. It has become her mission to simplify the process of acquiring accurate information on BPD. She received valuable support and education from the Adelaide-based Sanctuary BPD Carer Support Group and the Family Connections Program, and is now passing it on to other carers through her role as a Lived Experience Project Officer at South Australia’s state-wide service The BPD Collaborative.
To share information more broadly and support systemic change Karen sits on the board of the Australian BPD Foundation, publishes their monthly eBulletin and seasonal newsletter, and is a carer rep for the Australasian Association for Research and Treatment of Personality Disorders (AART-PD). She is also part of the lived-experience team who coordinate BPD Awareness Week held in Australia during the first week of October with the aim of educating everyone impacted by BPD to reduce stigma.
